It made me cringe a little bit while imagined what it would be like to live in that your entire life. I couldn’t believe that test results showed over 70% of rivers had been contaminated. Real eye opener, thanks for the post!

Looking at the big picture, I strongly believe that having a central environmental protection agency, with strong regional offices backed up by individual state environmental departments has helped us avoid the level of pollution and contamination that exists in countries where protecting the environment has not been a priority. There is still much work to be done in the U.S., but we’re much farther along than we’d be with out the EPA or laws like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.
Thanks for writing.

The similarities between China and the EPA are that they both centrally controlled; why do you believe giving more power to a centrally controlled entity is an unmitigated good?

Spent some time in Tokyo and even there I started wearing masks to walk along crowded streets. The cultural norm there is to gargle with water when you return home.
Thanks for an informative post!
